A few things to know before cancelling Shell Energy broadband

You have the right to cancel your Shell Energy broadband anytime you want, but are you aware of the consequences of cancelling the contract when you are still in it?

Well, before you plan to cancel the contract, you must bear in your mind that you will be bound to pay a fee for cancelling your contract if you cancel it before reaching its end. But if planned wisely, you can cancel your broadband contract without paying any fee and without having to spend a day without internet service. It is no rocket science; you just need to consider a few things. Here they are-

Check your ongoing contract

Before anything, check your ongoing contract to know the remaining months in your contract to end. Shell Energy broadband contract has an 18-month contract. If you cancel your contract before this period, the service will charge you a fee according to the months remaining in your contract.

However, if possible, wait for your contract to end and then terminate.

Look for a new deal

After you cancel your old deal, you will need a new provider to provide you with high-speed internet. To ensure you don’t go even a day without the internet, find a new deal even before you cancel your old deal.

Once you have found a new deal and your old contract has terminated, you can get your line transferred to a new internet service provider. However, this is possible only when you switch to an ISP that uses the BT phone line, i.e., Openreach network. In other instances, you will have to take care of cancelling your existing Shell Energy connection and installing the new package.

How to cancel your Shell Energy broadband?

There are different provisions for cancelling your contract when you are out of your contract and when you are still in the contract. Let’s dig deep into their details.

If you are out of your Shell Energy broadband contract

It is the best and the easiest way to end your Shell Energy broadband contract. You can reach out to them on 0330-094-5801. At this point, you must know that even if you cancel after you are out of your contract, this service provider will charge a £15 cease charge from you.

You can, of course, cancel your broadband services even if you are still in the contract. For this, follow the same procedure as mentioned above. However, the only difference will be that if you cancel your contract when you are within the minimum contract term, the service provider will charge an early termination fee by asking you to pay for the months remaining in your contract.
